The four Kountze brothers: Augustus, Herman, Luther and Charles were pioneer bankers. Herman (1833-1906) and Augustus (1826-1892) Kountze opened Kountze Brothers Bank in Omaha, Neb. in 1857. Luther Kountze (1848-1918) opened a branch of the Kountze Brothers Bank in Denver, Colo. in 1862 and later in June, 1866, the name of the bank was changed to Colorado National Bank.
